Buyers premium is 18% + VAT (VAT is chargeable on the premium but not be shown separately on invoice as it is not normally recoverable under the auctioneer’s margin scheme for VAT). This charge applies to anyone bidding direct with us in advance using the Make a Bid form on our website, or if you email us your bids once you are known to us.
Bidding online from your home or office through the-saleroom.com gives you the freedom to bid live during the sale or in advance using that platform, for this service you pay an additional 3%+vat on the hammer price.
Example of how our buyer premium charging works: if you won a lot with a hammer price of, say, £100, the 18% premium would add £18, and VAT on that adds another £3.60- making total payable £121.60.
If you are bidding online through the-saleroom.com, their per-lot online charge adds 3% of the hammer price (£3) and VAT on that would be 60 pence, so overall your invoice from us would be £100 plus £18 plus £3.60 vat (Stag Auctions premium), plus £3 online fee plus 60p vat (the-saleroom.com online bidding fee) on that, so a total of £125.20.
If you need the item to be packed and posted by us there would be the additional appropriate charge for that service which is a VAT-able charge.

Stag Auctions can pack and ship many items worldwide. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for quotes.
Please bear with us in the days following an auction as we can have around 200 lots to pack and despatch, this can take a few days. We generally get all lots out within 12 working days if payment has been prompt.
For items containing glass i.e. glazed frames, please ask us to remove the glass if preferred before we pack it, items containing glass cannot be covered by courier or mail insurance, any damage is at the buyers risk if we do not receive a request to remove glass.
You may collect from us here in Gloucestershire, by appointment, either in person (ID required) or your named courier with your written instruction. Our warehouse is approximately 3 miles from Stroud town centre, ground level with free parking.
Stag Auctions staff need to sign items out to winning bidders - so just make an appointment with us! Lots uncollected after the 6th day following each sale will be charged at £5+vat per lot per day excess storage.
We prefer payment by bank transfer please. (Bank transfer is required for all overseas buyers). we will advise bank details on our invoice to you.
You may use paypal, subject to a 3.5% fee (4.5% if paying from overseas accounts/foreign currencies), please ask us for the payment details.
We do not accept credit cards directly here by telephone for security reasons and cash will not be taken..again for the security of our staff.
